Ok, yeah, I did forget to post last night. Undoubtedly the Bailey’s hot chocolate left me too relaxed.

Yesterday we explored the Dingle Peninsula and Connor Pass, but nothing funny or unusual happened. Today, we are driving the Ring of Kerry, which was the only thing we were able to do on our aborted trip in May, 1981. Other than amazing scenery, the best thing today has been the Skellig Chocolate Factory, near Portmagee at the outer point of the Ring of Kerry.

I doubt that there is any chocolate factory this remote anywhere in the world. Getting to it was a Mr. Toad’s wild ride and why it’s located at the end of the world is anyone’s guess, but we had been tipped off about it and told that they give out samples. Do they ever! Every time we thought we had tried all they would give us and thanked them, we heard, “Oh we aren’t through yet.” After we tried 7 or 8 different things we were told that if we saw something else on the shelf they would let us try that. And what a sales technique! The chocolates were amazing and we wanted just about everything we sampled. It’s doubtful that we will have to worry about room in the suitcase, though. We have five more days here and there might not be anything left!

After leaving the Ring of Kerry we followed some very strange lanes until we found the Toy Soldier Factory. We each picked a figure (Brian’s is a soldier and mine is a fairy), watched

as they were cast in metal, and then we got to paint them. Now we have new card protectors for poker!

So many of the roads here in Ireland are two way traffic, but barely one car wide, so I’m including a few pictures of them.
